About

Chatchalerm Lertanekwattana, a Roots barista, won the 2025 World Cup Tasters title in Geneva. Varatt Vichit-Vadakan, the 2014 Thailand Barista Champion, started Roots in 2013 with head roaster Korn Sanguenkeaw, his coach at the 2014 World Barista Championship.

The roastery buys only Thai beans, from Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Tak, and a cup-to-farm programme returns part of its revenue to origin communities. Single origins include Sanchai and Pangkhon Village.

Roasting

Boutique micro roastery. Works with 8 coffee families across 7 regions in 3 Thai provinces (Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai). Roasting philosophy: sweet, balanced profiles preserving origin characteristics.
