The shop began as the Daydreaming Espresso Bar and had been roasting for more than four years before the move and rename. The owner chose Rei, a Japanese woman's name.
It is a ground-floor room glazed on two sides, with a pink terrazzo floor. A black drum roaster stands among the tables, its silver flue ducting looping across the ceiling to the back. A turntable and hi-fi stack sit under the wooden bar, and two tables stand on the front step.
