Terroir began in Chiang Mai, then opened in Bangkok, with a third shop in Indonesia. Founder Park Tanpraphat, formerly known as 'Brew Boy', worked on coffee farms in Panama, Ethiopia, Colombia and Australia, then spent more than five years studying fermentation under Jake Hu, a Taiwanese specialist and international competition judge.
After returning to Thailand following COVID-19, he worked with northern Thai farmers on soil, planting methods, temperature control and pricing. He sources and processes about 90% of the beans himself, travelling monthly to farms in Thailand and abroad, including Ethiopia, Honduras and Panama.
